New Features! MEV Protection is live!
At BlockPI, we are committed to providing our customers with a one-stop infrastructure solution that empower them to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of blockchain technology. To enhance the user experience of using BlockPI RPC, we have introduced MEV (Miner Extractable Value) protection on the BSC mainnet, Ethereum mainnet, and Polygon mainnet.
How worse it could be?
MEV refers to a strategy employed by “searchers” to exploit your transactions at your expense.
Whenever a user engages in a transaction that holds value, these searchers can “frontrun” it by submitting the exact same transaction before it, thereby securing the profits for themselves. Additionally, after being frontruned, the user may also experience “backrunning,” where the searcher mitigates any price slippage caused by the user’s trade and once again keeps the profits. When both frontrunning and backrunning occur together, it is referred to as a “sandwich attack.” MEV attacks result in receiving an unfavorable price for your transactions and can potentially cause the blockchain user to lose significant amounts of money, ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
How BlockPI deal with it?
At BlockPI, we have integrated the MEV protection into our RPC service to protect your transactions against the above attacks. If you send transactions through BlockPI’s RPC, they will not get into the public mempool — the searchers cannot find them, so they are not able to exploit your transactions.
Please be aware that the blockchain Explorer does not display the pending status of your transactions (TXs). Once your TX has been successfully included in the blockchain, you will be able to locate it on the Explorer.
We use the MEV-Boost protocol, which is currently the most popular and widely adopted protocol in the industry for MEV protection. This protocol is known for its maturity and stability, ensuring a secure environment for your transactions.
Additionally, we have developed our own load balancing mechanism. In the event of network congestion on the MEV network, our system will promptly route user transactions to the public mempool, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted service.
How to use?
Public Service
The MEV protection feature is enabled for our public RPC endpoints. Go to https://public.blockpi.io/ Click the Metamask icon of the endpoint to add BlockPI’s public RPC in your wallet, then you are protected.
Due to the restriction of Metamask, you have to manually add the Ethereum endpoint. Here is the tutorial.
If you wish to enjoy our high-quality services but do not want to utilize MEV protection, You can configure this feature in a private endpoint.
Private Service
If you already have a BlockPI account, you will find a toggle switch for the MEV protection in your endpoint subpage.
This switch is enabled by default, allowing users to choose whether to activate the MEV protection. This feature does not result in an increase in RU consumption and protects you from front-running and sandwich attacks. Therefore, we highly recommend that you enable this functionality.
